Saturday June 13, 2009
8:00AM:          Breakfast at the Inns

9:15AM:          The bus will leave the Doubleday Inn for Neill Avenue.

9:30AM:          “Lost Lane”
Mr. Dean Shultz will meet the group at his home on the Baltimore Pike.  From there, Dean will lead us across his property to Neill Avenue, a landlocked strip of land owned by the National Park Service.  This is perhaps the least visited part of the Battlefield and we have a rare opportunity to see the ground and the monuments placed there.  Brig. Gen. Thomas Neill’s brigade of the Union VI Corps was placed on the far right flank of the army’s infantry line, positioned on Wolf Hill. It engaged in skirmishing with the Confederates of Johnson's division, which was assaulting Culp’s Hill.
Please note that we will be away from the bus during this time.  This walk will include rough terrain and some strenuous activity.

12:30-2PM:     Catered lunch at Dunlap’s Restaurant & Bakery in Gettysburg.

2:00-5:30PM:  “Gone Baby Gone”
Led by Licensed Battlefield Guide Rich Kohr, the tour will continue to the south end of the Battlefield.  The afternoon session will focus on the things that have come and gone, and how the Park has changed over its history.  The tour will take us to the fields of Pickett’s Charge to view the old trolley line that ran through the area.  We will talk about the 50th Anniversary encampment that was located there.  Rich will take the tour to quarry sites used for the flank markers on the field today.  He will also show the group monuments that have been moved and their old locations.  Along the way, we will also visit some of the rock carvings on the Battlefield.  Following the tour, the bus will return the participants to the Doubleday Inn.

5:30PM+:        Free time for dinner
Sunday June 14, 2009
8-10:00AM:    Breakfast and check-out.

10AM-12PM:  “The Other Round Top”
Join Licensed Battlefield Guide Tim Smith at the base of Big Round Top, as he explores the “Other” Round Top’s trails, folklore, fortifications, historic photos, unique rock formations, monuments, and observation towers now long gone.  Although rarely visited today, Big Round Top has its own fascinating story to tell.  Looming 120 feet higher than Little Round Top, the hill played a key role in the Battle.  Big Round Top stood in path of the Confederate Infantry on July 2nd and was occupied by the Union on July 3rd.  Following the war visitors enjoyed the view from its summit and veterans placed monuments along it slopes.
Please note that we will be following the old path to the summitThis walk will include rough terrain and some strenuous activity.
